Built on acres of lush tropical gardens, the Inle Lake View Resort is a luxury resort on the Western shores of the lake. The 30 colonial-style rooms and suites are all plenty large enough (and then some), with private balconies affording excellent views on to the Lake. However, because we are on the Western shore, there are no sunsets. They are tastefully decorated in Burmese style featuring polished wooden floors and colonial-style furniture and all include an en suite bathroom with tub, satellite TV and minibar.

There’s an excellent restaurant with outside terrace serving a fine array of Asian cuisines including Shan, Myanmar, Indian, and Chinese specialities; with herbs and vegetables are sourced form the resort’s own organic gardens. Elsewhere there are several bars and the highly thought of Inle Lake View Spa.

This resort is amongst the most comfortable places on the lakeside to base yourself. The rooms are stylish, the food is excellent and the service is, in our experience, the best in the region – somehow a little more attentive and polished than elsewhere.
