Occupying a prime beachfront site in this developing, quiet corner of Burma, this attractive resort provides a salubrious base from which to explore the region. Or not – simply sunbathing is the other credible option.

The attractive and spacious bungalows, with either sea or garden view, are built in traditional, colonial style amongst the tropical vegetation or along the beachfront, with large verandas looking out to the sea. Stylish wood, rattan and cotton furnishings, marble bathrooms, satellite TV and a myriad of other excellent facilities are incongruously present – has no-one told them how remote we are in Ngwe Saung?!

The resort has a good quality restaurant serving local, Thai and western cuisine as well as two bars, an impressive lobby area and a spa featuring Ayurvedic and traditional Myanmar massages. There is also a reasonable sized swimming pool, boutique shop and small business centre.
