Day 1
Arrive in Yangon, Burma's former capital. Transfer to your hotel. Enjoy an afternoon city tour, including a visit to the most revered Buddhist temple in Burma; the Shwedagon Pagoda.
Day 2
Depart Yangon and transfer to Bago, the capital of the 16th century Mon Kingdom. Visit the huge Shwemawdaw Pagoda, before continuing in the afternoon to Mt Kyaiktiyo – The Golden Rock
Day 3
Morning at leisure. Afternoon drive to Hpa An with visits to Bayint Nyi Cave and Kaw Gun Cave.
Day 4
Morning visits to Zwe Kapin and Kyauk Kalat Pagoda. Afternoon transfer to Moulmein situated near the mouth of the Thanlwin River, a former capital of British Burma between 1827 and 1852.
Day 5
Morning tour in Moulmein to visit the central market, Mahamuni Pagadoa and an ancient wooden monastery. Afternoon boat visit to Shampoo Island.
Day 6
Morning transfer back to Yangon. Stop en-route for fantastic photo opportunities before arriving to Yangon in the afternoon. Enjoy some time at leisure in the city.
Day 7
Morning at leisure in Yangon with time to explore the atmospheric streets, beautiful colonial buildings and colourful Chinatown. Afternoon flight to Bagan.
Day 8
Full day tour to visit a range of sites, providing a great overview of Bagan’s history, culture and local lifestyles. Visit the famous temples, local villages and enjoy a cruise on a private river boat on the Irrawaddy.
Day 9
Morning at leisure. Afternoon horse-cart ride through the temples finishing at North Guni Temple to watch the sun set over the plains.
Day 10
Day at leisure to explore Bagan further at your own pace or you may wish to spend the afternoon enjoying a Burmese Tea Party in a local monastery.
Day 11
Transfer to Meiktila via Mt Popa. Enjoy the stunning views over the Myingyan Plain from the top of the volcano peak.
Day 12
Drive to Mandalay on the old highway passing through beautiful countryside terrain and small villages. Stop en-route to visit Kyauk Se before arriving to Mandalay for check in.
Day 13
Full day sightseeing in Mandalay. Start the day with a visit to Mandalay Hill before continuing to visit the Golden Palace Monastery and the Kuthodaw Pagoda, home to the “world’s largest book”. In the afternoon enjoy a short cruise across the Irrawaddy River to Mingun where you can see the world’s largest un-cracked bell.
Day 14
Morning tour to explore the former capitals; Sagaing, Ava and Amarapura.
Day 15
Day at leisure in Mandalay.
Day 16
Morning drive to the former British hill station of Maymyo (Pyin Oo Lwin). Afternoon at leisure to relax – this is a great time to visit the Botanical Gardens to the South of the town or take a pony and trap tour around the town.
Day 17
Local train from Maymyo to Kyauk Me passing over the Gokhtiek Viaduct. Upon arrival enjoy a short walking tour of the town.
Day 18
Depart by car for Hsipaw, a charming mountain town in Northern Burma. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure or take a visit to the Shan Palace.
Day 19
Full day tour of Hsipaw – try local Shan noodles, explore the tribal market, cruise along the river and spend time at a local hill tribe village to learn about local culture and traditions
Day 20
Depart Hsipaw for the scenic drive to Mandalay and stop for a delicious lunch with the locals.
Day 21
Morning flight to Kalaw, a beautiful former British hill station. Spend the afternoon at leisure.
Day 22
Visit to Green Hill Valley Elephant Camp. Learn about the lives of the elephants and the skills of the mahout. Spend time washing the elephants, feeding them and playing with them in the river.
Day 23
Visit the famous rotating tribal market this morning before departing for Inle Lake. Spend the afternoon sightseeing on the lake, passing floating villages and leg-rowing fishermen.
Day 24
Morning tour to Indein on the South-western shores of the lake. Visit a local village before exploring the Alaung Sitthou area on foot. The area is filled with picturesque stupas and has magnificent views of the lake.
Day 25
Morning at leisure before transferring to the airport for your flight to Yangon.
